Going off the path.

When I first started working for a well-know government agency, I had a safe and secure path to advancement.

However, I just could not see myself following a safe path. So, I jumped off the path into the woods and became a Management Intern in, of all places, San Francisco.

There I was exposed to a number of jobs and disciplines, along with the hippies of that time. The people I met and the situations I encountered taught me to be quick on my feet, or should I say, quick in my mind.

After two years, I had a choice of jobs and decided to follow training and development as a career.

If I had not stepped off the trail, I would not have found my passion.

Even later when I held a number of management positions, training and educating and leading groups was always my priority.

Never be afraid to step off the path and explore, you might just find your passion.

Just take your bear spray with you.
